End of life planning is not a fun process, but it does not have to be difficult. With a knowledgeable attorney on your side you can rest easy knowing that you, your family, and your friends are all going to be taken care of according to your wishes when you pass. I am often asked if everyone needs an estate plan, and my usual response is: If you do not have an estate plan in place when you die, the government decides what happens to your belongings. If you trust that the government knows what you want to happen, then you probably do not need an estate plan; however, if you prefer to ensure your specific wishes are carried out, you do need an estate plan.
